Guidelines/Eligibility

  • Anybody not on staff at Fair Trade Resource Network can submit photos.
  • Photo submissions must relate to the theme of Fair Trade and accurately reflect the ideals and mission of the Fair Trade movement.
  • In order to be considered eligible for this contest, photos must show images associated with people, products or businesses/organizations participating in FTRN’s accepted Fair Trade recognitions.
  • You may submit as many photographs as you’d like; cost per photograph submission is $10, which will go towards printing calendar and Fair Trade education.
  • Voting is open to all, and each person can vote for up to 5 photos.
  • Only 1 photo can become a winning, featured photo for each photographer/owner.
  • Photos in both landscape & portrait orientation can be submitted. However, since the printed calendar is landscape orientation, winning photos that are portrait orientation will only be featured if FTRN determines that the photo meets design specifications. If a portrait winner does not get featured, it will be shown on the More Faces of Fair Trade page.
  • The 12 qualifying photos with the most votes will become featured photos, one for each month in the printed calendar. The top vote getter will appear on the calendar cover. The 12 featured photos will appear in the calendar with the photographer/owner name and a caption – a great way to promote your organization.
  • Photos of low-resolution can be entered into the contest. However, to appear as a featured photo in one month of the printed calendar, a high-resolution file will be needed later. High resolution means at least 300 dpi at 5 x 7 inches. For best quality in printed calendar, photo should have resolution of 300 dpi at 9.5 x 14.5 inches). The high-resolution file must be in one of these formats (jpg, tiff, pdf), and must be submitted in high-resolution to FTRN by July 23, 2013. Winning photos with lower resolution may be used in smaller dimensions on one of the back pages of the printed calendar.
  • All photo submissions must be an original taken by submitter, or must be a photo that submitter has full legal rights to distribute. All photos should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appears. If a photo is found to be in violation of this rule, it will result in disqualification of the photo.
  • FTRN has final approval of any language that appears with the photos, in the calendar, or in their distribution websites and stores.
  • By entering the contest submitters grant to Fair Trade Resource Network a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform the photographs you submit to this contest.
  • All decisions made by voters and FTRN are final and binding.
