World Fair Trade Day Festival
GIFT is hosting a World Fair Trade Day Festival in Las Vegas! Our goal is to expose the community to the issues involved in trade, including the contributions to poverty and child labor through current trade, and how we as consumers can be empowered to make real changes through our purchases. Channel 13 Anchorwoman and reporter Christina Brown will be present, sharing insights from her trip to a Guatemalan coffee farm. David Funkhouser from TransFair USA and Holly Hight from Bread for the World will also be featured speakers. Festivities will include booths from The One Campaign, Save Darfur, Wild Oats, Trader Joes, Barnes and Noble and others. We will host a Fair Trade Fashion Show with wares from No Sweat Apparel, Global Exchange, Global Girlfriend, and Wild Oats. There will also be performances by L.A. band No Little Kindness, local band The Bends, and Indian dancer Sruti Das. Fair Trade chocolate and coffee tasting will be a part of the festivities as well.
