Media Training for the Local Activist
To empower local organizations to promote World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) this spring, FTRN and FTT are offering Fair Trade activists, as well as WFTD sponsors, a free day-long training in media outreach and social networking via Internet 2.0 portals (e.g. MySpace and Change.org). The training will take place on Saturday March 29th in New York City and will be provided by media professionals. Heather Mansfield of DIOSA Communications, who is the creator of MySpace's nonprofit network, will offer the social networking training. Fenton Communications will help participants develop tools to communicate the Fair Trade message through radio and print media. This is also a great opportunity to meet and reconnect with other Fair Trade activists working with similar missions. The training will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday with coffee and lunch breaks, and will wrap up at 5:00. The evening will informally continue for anyone who is staying in the city for the night, and both Anne Lally of FTRN and Sara Stender of FTT will be available for further discussions. Register for the training day by emailing Sara Stender: sara@fairtradetownsusa.org or call with questions: (802) 356-0551.
