Infographic Published on Roles & Functions in N. America Fair Trade Movement


To help Fair Trade advocates and the general public picture who is doing what in the Fair Trade movement in N. America, Fair Trade Resource Network has published an infographic called “N. America Fair Trade Movement:  Roles & Functions – August 2012.” Some support for the infographic was provided by Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade. The 2-page PDF document shows 29 key organizations and groups by:

– organizational roles (Advocate, Trader,  Standard Setter, Membership, Academic)
– movement functions (Leadership, Build Infrastructure, External Communications, Mobilize Resources, Recruiting Supporters)
– approach (Mission-driven, Market-driven, Both)
– size (small, medium, large resources devoted to Fair Trade activities)

Fair Trade Resource Network (FTRN) announces that Webinar #124 is coming September 12 to discuss “Roles and Limitations of Voluntary Certification – An Overview of an International Assessment“. The webinar is for the public to learn about:

What is known and what is most important to learn about the performance and potential of voluntary standards and certification. Actual, perceived, and potential impacts of environmental and social labeling schemes, such as Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, Forest Stewardship Council and Marine Stewardship Council. Key findings contained in a State-of-Knowledge Assessment of Standards and Certification report, Toward Sustainability: The Roles and Limitations of Certification.
