“Fair Trade Your Supermarket” Campaign Invites Advocates to Send a Quick Email to Their Stores

The “Fair Trade Your Supermarket” campaign, organized by Green America, is inviting advocates to get involved with a new option of sending a quck email to your supermarket chain, and with other actions as well:

Please take action with us today to get Fair Trade products onto more supermarket shelves.

If you’ve ever been frustrated by a fruitless search for Fair Trade products in your local supermarket, this action is for you. It’s a great way to spread the word about Fair Trade and ultimately to get a fair deal for more and more farmers and producers all over the world.

There’s no shortage of Fair Trade Certified products on the market. Coffee, tea, and chocolate are perhaps the best-known, while rice, sugar, fresh fruit, wine, and spices are available, but harder to find. We can direct you to sources for all of these products via greenpages.org or our Guide to Fair Trade, and we also need to make these products more visible and available to a wider market.

Ask your supermarket to stock Fair Trade ยป

That’s why we’ve put this action together to make it easy for you to send a quick e-mail message to your supermarket. When you click through to the action, you can select from the list of supermarkets (A&P, Costco, Food Lion, Giant, Kroger, Safeway, and many more) to send a message to the markets where you shop.

Also, consider following up your e-mail message with a comment card at the stores, or a personal conversation with your local store managers, and if you do, please tell us about it. Our “Fair Trade Your Supermarket” Web site offers additional resources and action ideas, to help you keep encouraging your supermarket to embrace Fair Trade.

Please forward this action to your friends, and like it on Facebook. Together, we can mobilize much greater demand for products that build healthy communities at the beginning of the supply chain.
