On May 10th thousands of Fair Trade activists world wide played host to Fair Trade chocolate tastings, coffee breaks, speakers, festivals, and the first ever Fair Trade hand washing break as part of World Fair Trade Day. Here in the United States the Fair Trade Resource Network and Fair Trade Towns have teamed up to inspire Fair Trade work breaks from May 10 - May 18. As the first body care brand to go Fair Trade, Dr. Bronner’s is proud to be sponsoring World Fair Trade Day and to be highlighted in events across the nation.

From San Diego, home to Dr. Bronners, to North Hampton, MA the 6th town n America to unanimously pass the “Buy Local, Buy Fair” resolution, to college campuses and street corners all across the country, people will be taking a moment out of their work day to wash with Dr. Bronner’s, receive
free samples, and learn about Dr. Bronner’s Fair Trade and organic products including liquid soap, lotion, lip balm, shaving gel, hair conditioner, hair creme, bar soap, and body balm. At Cafe Monto in San Diego, Jacqueline DeCarlo author of Fair Trade - a Beginners Guide will be joining hundreds
of others around the world in an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for largest coffee break. In Washington DC people will gather at Capital Hemp, Washington, DC’s first all hemp store, to explore the many uses of Dr. Bronners Fair Trade soap and stand in solidarity with small
farmers and workers. The Global Gallery of Columbus is committed to washing their dinner dishes with Dr. Bronners and then getting down to music and dance performances. The usual bar crawl in Milwaukee has been changed to the “Fair Trade Crawl” as people go from store to store getting Fair Trade
products instead of beer. The party begins May 10 and events go through May 18.

Dr. Bronner’s ingredients from all over the planet support environmental sustainability and farm worker health by not using chemical fertilizers and pesticides and using natural methods for improving soil
fertility and productivity. Along with concern for the earth Dr. Bronner’s is committed to ensuring that small organic farmers and farm workers receive fair pricing and wages. All major ingredients in Dr. Bronner’s
world renowned soaps come from certified Fair Trade and organic sources, including coconut, palm, and olive oil.

Dr. Bronner believed “Constructive Capitalism is where you share the profit with the workers and the earth from which you made it!” Today this legacy is kept alive by guaranteeing farmers a price which covers cost of production and a decent return, even when market prices collapse, with an
organic premium paid on top. Also Dr. Bronners provides employees with generous salaries and benefits, capping executive pay at five times the lowest paid position.

“Sponsoring World Fair Trade Day is just one way we are working to make a difference. By sourcing 95% of our raw materials from Fair Trade farms we are creating an ethical quality product that people can enjoy. We encourage people to buy Fair Trade year round and we hope to raise awareness
throughout the month of May,” said David Bronner, President of Dr. Bronners.
