A Divine Inspiration for Valentine’s Day!

Sun Herald

Just in time to kick-off this year’s Valentine’s Day excitement, Divine, the world’s first farmer-owned Fair Trade chocolate brand, is proud to announce the winner of its “Hungry To Change The World” recipe contest. Beating out fierce competition from around the country, Colorado resident Clara Coleman’s Fair-Trade Divine Chocolate Velvet Cheesecake recipe was the big winner. Divine Chocolate will recognize Coleman’s achievements with a pre-Valentine’s Day chocolate tasting event on February 7th at Rock Creek Restaurant in Washington, DC.

Divine Chocolate is the world’s first farmer owned Fair Trade chocolate brand — and their mission, in addition to creating decadent Fair Trade chocolate, is to improve the livelihood of small scale cocoa farmers in Ghana and increase the benefits farmers receive from the multi-billion dollar chocolate industry. Cocoa farmers receive a Fair Trade price for their cocoa and a social premium they invest in their communities. Plus, as co-owners of the company, farmers share in the profits and have a say in the company. The Hungry To Change The World Recipe Contest is a national search for Divine Chocolate-inspired recipes submitted by people with a true passion for Fair Trade.

“Through our Hungry To Change The World recipe contest, Divine hopes to inspire American consumers to make a difference in the lives of cocoa farmers simply by choosing Fair Trade chocolate this Valentine’s Day,” said, CEO Divine Chocolate, USA. “Divine helps chocolate lovers connect with cocoa farmers. This partnership is a delicious way to improve the lives of farmers and brighten the future for us all.”

Judges participating in the Divine Chocolate Hungry To Change The World recipe selection process included:

— Ris Lacoste, Corporate Chef for Rock Creek
— Robert Egger, Founder and President of DC Central Kitchen
— Monique Greenwood, Founder of Akwaabe Bed & Breakfast Inns
— Kwame Brown, Washington, DC Councilmember
