Wholesome Sweeteners holds fast to a ‘Fairtrade, Not Aid’ philosophy. The company pioneered Fairtrade certification for sweeteners in the US and in so doing, fostered ever-widening agricultural and community development programs for its farmer cooperatives in South America, Africa and Mexico. Since pioneering Fairtrade in 2005, Wholesome Sweeteners has paid almost $10 million in social premiums to benefit farming and beekeeping cooperatives in the developing world.
